Collaborative Research Centre for Green Materials on Environmental Technology

About the Green Material Research Center

In order to build a low-carbon society based on a cradle-to-cradle cycle, it is necessary to utilize biomass, a material that is naturally produced, and to design materials that take into account the entire process from production to consumption.

The unit will be centered around members of the university's research unit, "Young Research Unit for Development of Future-Creating Environmental and Bio-Appropriate Technology Utilizing Advanced MSSC," which has achieved research results in the development of high-added-value materials, technology, and function development by utilizing functional molecules and other substances in industrial waste and unused biomass. With the motto of giving back to society the university's seeds cultivated at the key research center, the Eco-Town Demonstration Research Center, the unit will add new collaborating researchers to its membership and aim to become a global research hub that will tackle environmental problems from a variety of perspectives and ideas that transcend the boundaries of countries and fields.

We will disseminate technologies for a global low-carbon society, aiming to create a future where we can coexist with nature. We aim to solve the global issues of environmental conservation and global warming, and to cooperate and collaborate with researchers both in Japan and abroad by utilizing our overseas bases, including our Malaysian Satellite Campus MSSC, which is our overseas education and research base, in order to establish science that can be adapted to a recycling-oriented society from a multifaceted perspective and to nurture young researchers.

Cooperation with Kitakyushu City

The Ando Laboratory/Green Material Research Center of Kyushu Institute of Technology is supporting the launch of the Bamboo Forest Circulatory City Kitakyushu. We will work together with various organizations and companies that are working to make effective use of bamboo as a carbon dioxide fixation material and to utilize it as a circulatory resource.
