Biological Functions and Engineering
Life Science and Systems Engineering is a new realm defined as an integrated study of the sophisticated functions of living organisms. In other words, this area focuses on the principles of minuteness in living organisms, highly efficient material/energy conversion, mass transformation and information recognition related to the phenomena of living organisms as the seeds of study. Technologies based on Life Science and Systems Engineering will help society practice mass transformation and energy conversion that allows low loss for the grass-root resolution to environmental and energy problems. In this way, Life Science and Systems Engineering is an innovative academia field that breaks through the shell of the conventional study of engineering.
Based on the principles of biological science and engineering, the graduate school of the Life Science and Systems Engineering, Biological Functions and Engineering provides education and research on the structure of living organisms, mass transformation, energy conversion and information conversion specialized and systemized to engineering. This program offers lectures in three key areas: Biofunctional Mechanisms (devices/material), Biological Functions and Systems (electricity/electronics) and Environmental Engineering (biology/chemistry). Physiological and Biochemical Adaptation (motor functions and biological application functional material) is provided as cooperative lecture; and Environmental Material Analysis (environmental evaluation and conservation) and Human Mechatronics (Human-like robot technology) are provided as chartered lectures.
This educational program intends to make the most of the features and achievements stated above, taking the lead in the field of life science and systems engineering and training specialists who are able to work actively at the global level.
